Kelly, 8, raped and strangled to death: her murderer identified 38 years later
Kelly Ann Prosser, 8, disappeared on September 20, 1982.
That day, the little girl had left school in Columbus, Ohio (United States) on foot, and disappeared.
The child’s lifeless body was found two days later in a cornfield. The autopsy revealed that she had been beaten, raped and strangled to death.
Thirty-eight years later, a suspect has been identified thanks to advances in genetic genealogy and DNA traces found on the scene.
It is Harold Warren Jarrell, now deceased. In 1977 Jarrell was charged and convicted of kidnapping another 8-year-old girl at Tamarack Circle, north of Columbus. He was released in January 1982, eight months before Kelly was kidnapped.
