Laura, 23, shot in the head on New Years Eve: suspected killer released

Laura Llopis, 23, was killed by a bullet in the head during the night of December 31, 2019 to January 1, 2020 in a car parked near a nightclub south of Montpellier, France.

She had just left the nightclub where she had celebrated the New Year with her friends and they were all getting ready to return home. The young woman was sitting at the wheel of the still stationary white Polo when Mohamed Zeraoula, a friend of her 34, shot her in the head while he was in the back seat.
Placed in custody, the suspect explained that the gunshot was accidentally fired while he was handling his weapon. He had always carried his automatic 9mm Glock with him since the assassination of his nephew Marwan Zeraoula on December 12, shot dead by a burst of Kalashnikovs in the middle of the street.

He had been indicted for intentional homicide and then placed in pre-trial detention.

After almost a year spent behind bars, Mohamed Zeraoula was released on December 23 by the Justice of Freedom and Detention pending trial.
